Well I don't know the lies that were told. I know the the Soviet Union had the same opinion of America as the Palestinians have of Israel today and I know that political decisions created a no win situation for those doing the dying. But those who did the dying were serving America. The leaders lead badly. War was messy and innocent died. Of course the nice folks on the other side had their day in Cambodia. China's ineptness and planning has killed tens of millions. The soviet union has also killed tens of millions America has not waged war on it's own in any way like this. So I don't consider having a global policy of stopping or containing a dictatorship(s) that has shown how to murder millions of its own was ever the policy of any bad guys. The purpose of the Vietnam was was just and was never linked with goals and a plan to fulfill the purpose. Call it a lack of judgement or bad planning or some bad choices.
