"Looking at the entire list I noticed that there are only four ASIC licensees and Intel is not among them. Didn't they get a license when they acquired DSP? Did it run out? "

My recollection is, when a company is bought out the acquiring firm must re-apply for a license, which INTC did. I thought they'd got it but I guess not; could negotiations still be ongoing?

Probably in over my head here but I recall that the license would have to be reestablished, i.e., it does not transfer to Intel with the purchase.
