The "crisis" was to torpedo the zero emission rules for cars in California. Zero emission means electric cars. Electric cars with this power supply? No way Jose.

Because we Brazilians are very suspicious of governments and big corporations we can see a 'trick' -or an abracadabra- from 10 Km away, against the wind and in the dark of the night.

Portage, there was no period of regulatory hands=off.

That was a lot of twaddle.

If prices were allowed to rise, people would have been very unhappy as home utility bills leaped upward. Tough titty! That's what happens to prices in a market with not enough to go around. They need to take Prozac and go on a course explaining supply and demand. Same for the businesses you say would shut their doors. Businesses so dependent on excessively cheap prices shouldn't be trying to do business in such a flakey place as California.
