Goldman's Cohen lowers S&P target

By Julie Rannazzisi

Goldman Sachs' influential head of investment strategy Abby Joseph Cohen lowered her year-end target for the S&P 500 ($SPX) to 1,500 from the previous 1,550, according to Art Hogan, chief strategist at Jefferies & Co. That's an upside of 28 percent from current levels. Her year-end target for the Dow Industrials ($INDU) remains at 12,500, representing a gain of 21 percent from current levels. Cohen last lowered her targets on the averages on April 18. On that day, she cut her 2001 targets on the S&P 500 to 1,550 from 1,650 and on the Dow to 12,500 from 13,000.
