Good morning! I am sorry that things got out of hand, but consider this: brees didn't comment behind X's back, but to her directly. If she had wanted to respond, she could have. Instead, a couple of days and many posts later, we get E stirring the pot. In my book, that equals starting it.....

I sympathize with the sorrow. I hope you will find the trip pleasant enough to somehow encourage you.......

Have a great day- we are off to LA. I shall return a sad, lonely mom to my empty nest.

Be brave. :)

Dear Rambi

Message 16232098

Before you go...

"To the statement "If E hadn't ...", I can only shake my head in some bemusement... E may have invited brees to the dance, but it seems that many decided to cut in voluntarily and take a turn around the dancefloor. Which is just fine, but to say "E did it!" sounds- well- as a mom, I've heard similar words many times and it makes me laugh."

As a mom,

When raising my children, I considered the "content" of their words important. And I never allowed my children to slur one another because of a disagreement.

I'm very glad that I took a principled stand with "the children." They've grown into wonderfully responsible adults. So I don't know, perhaps you're right, the "dancefloor" should have been vacated with brees and E taking center stage, but I don't think it's unfair to show a willingness to 'take a stand' at what transpired on a principled basis.

As Neo so graciously supplied the thread with the essay of John Mill....apparently as fine a thinker as he felt the necessity to address the finer points of public discourse and the inherent dangers.

"- we are off to LA. I shall return a sad, lonely mom to my empty nest."

Have a wonderful trip,I've been there and done that, and I think I can identify. But as I'm sure you already know, the nest is never really "empty". And there will come a time when you will enjoy your new found "freedom".

Betty

It can be survivied. I am living proof.

And I can tell you it makes the vacations so much sweeter when everybody's home.

THE CIRCLE GAME

Yesterday a child came out to wonder
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star
Then the child moved ten times round the seasons
Skated over ten clear frozen streams
Words like, when you're older, must appease him
And promises of someday make his dreams
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to car wheels thru the town
And they tell him,
Take your time, it won't be long now
Till you drag your feet to slow the circles down
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

So the years spin by and now the boy is twenty
Though his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true
There'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty
Before the last revolving year is through
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return, we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
