Hercules Development Seeks Assistance From Shareholders to Relieve Short Selling Pressure

BALA CYNWYD, Pa., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Hercules Development Group, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: HDVG - news), a development stage company, today announced that it is asking its shareholders to take action that it believes will help curtail the short selling of its common stock. Management has noted recent volatility in the volume and price of the common stock, which it believes has been attributable to short selling of the Company's stock. The Company believes that this volatility fosters an unstable environment that limits management's ability to move forward with its business development efforts.

Hercules management is requesting that its shareholders contact their brokers and have their common shares taken out of margin accounts (and ``street name'') and have those shares either delivered to them in certificate form or placed into a cash account. By taking one of these actions, short sellers will not be able to borrow a shareholder's stock for short sales without the permission of that shareholder.

Management wants its shareholders to understand that short sales occur when traders borrow stock from brokers that is either registered in ``street name'' or held in margin accounts. These traders sell the borrowed stock in the hope that the price will decline, thereby allowing them to later buy the stock at a lower price and then return those shares to the lending brokers. Moreover, if the volume of short selling is great enough, the supply of a company's shares could artificially exceed demand, thus driving down the price by virtue only of the short selling pressure.

However, by reducing the amount of stock held in street name and margin accounts, shareholders can help to ensure that there will be fewer shares available to borrow, which reduces the likelihood of short selling. And if enough stock is taken out of street name and margin accounts, short sellers will have difficulty maintaining the current volume of short sales.

About the Company:

Hercules is a development stage company that presently has limited operations in the business of managing real estate properties located in Denver, Boulder and Niwot, Colorado. While the Company plans to expand its residential property management services into additional markets, its primary focus continues to be centered on exploring opportunities to acquire operating entities that would ultimately, in the opinion of management, enhance shareholder value.
