Bill- Does that mean that Intel has some far smaller sections on the die, maybe to make it hit 2 GHZ? I think this is the same discussion as I had with Ali and Mani yesterday. In the case of the P4, the Tjmax is probably based on functionality not reliability. Above a certain Tj, the P3 and P4 will crash. Most chips get their Tjmax from reliability concerns, but this doesn't seem to be the case for microprocessors.
