When we contrast them with real human conflicts, like the World Wars you have brought to mind by your postings, our little flame wars look petty indeed. I have been taking very much to heart a remark someone made somewhere on SI recently, I can't recall where or why, and it doesn't matter. But they reminded us that SI may be here 20 years from now, and our children may come and read what we have written today. Do we really want our children reading some of the things we have posted? Since reading that, I have tried consciously to ask myself, before I hit the submit button, "Is this a post I would be proud to have my children read?" Amazing how often I hit the back button intead.
