I respond to the tenor of the posts I receive.

Hmmm.

I don't know whether you have children or not.

If you do, or did, I hope when they say/said to you "Johnny was mean to me today" you didn't say "well, respond to the tenor of his comments and be mean back," but something like, "well, he must have had a bad day. Why don't you try being nice to him and see what he says."
