I'll just jump in by noting that bookings are rising in
their seasonally weakest period, which is not
the trend one would normally expect. I think this makes
the small monthly increase that was just announced rather
impressive. Certainly, it suggests that we are at
unsustainably low order rates.

Where are you Gottfried with your charts?

Still, it's a trend. I think it's safe to say that the downward plunge in bookings is over. The up may be small, but it's still an up. AMAT could easily rally to 60, based on the hope that we will have a V-shaped recovery in bookings now, and the Fed easing will cause a resurgence in business spending by early 2001.
