Volume of oil production goes up

MOSCOW - 29m tons of oil were produced in Russia in July 2001, i.e.
9.3% more compared to a similar period last year, a source in the Russian
State Statistics Committee reported to RosBusinessConsulting.

The increase in oil production over the first seven months of this year
compared to last year was estimated as equal to 7.3%. In addition, 2.3bn
cubic meters of gas were produced in July, i.e. 1.6% more compared to July
2000.

The increase in gas production amounted to 1.3% this year. Talking about
oil refining, the average daily volume of oil refining increased in 27 of the 34
oil producing regions of Russia over the first seven months of 2001.

It went up 23.3% in the Arkhangelsk region, 8.35 in the Tyumen region and
went down 2.9% in Bashkiria and 4.2% in the Volgograd
