To further expand on my previous point:

Last month of yearly decrease in bookings

1995: August.
1996: September.
1997: increased until November, then down.
1998: October.
1999: September.
2000: increased until September, then down.
2001: April.

In 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, I'd argue we saw "normal"
seasonality. 1997 and 2000 were boom years preceeding
the bust. The slow increase in orders during the last
few months suggests we're at unsustainably low order
rates as we're in a very unusual situation, caused by the
precipitous fall in orders starting 10/2000. I guess
every cycle has it's own peculiarities.
