The new thing in this collapse is that the US for the first time is not letting the dollar fall.

Do you guys remember the Plaza Accord of 1985 when the G7 agreed to let the dollar fall?

I remember GI's stationed in Germany were buying Porsches since their allowances (in USD) were very high and the DM was in the cellar of the earthworm.

Why the US do not let the dollar to go down? I am looking to this today as August 1972 when Nixon allow the dollar to float and the gold standard bit the dust.
