Some profit taking was noted shortly after the opening but market averages maintained their positive bias. The market has recovered most of this lost ground but are hesitating near the early highs. Although the SEMI data provided the spark for the buying interest this morning, the mixed reaction from the Street to this ratio appears to have left the market a bit more cautious about a possible bottom/turnaround in this key sector. GM (+0.77) has edged off the best level despite reaffirming guidance and production levels for the year as Prudential has lowered their estimates
