I saw Colandra's article before, excellent perspective

between the lines are important points
- stock accounts are so intangible sometimes.. they change our lives with available money, but it feels like "funny money" to many.. lose it while gainfully employed and a casual observer might not notice any change in lifestyle

- retirement accounts seem like distant future funds.. they will affect quality of life in graying years.. lose it and a strange misplaced confidence can overcome to feel as though it can be replaced with dividends

- but lose value in your home property, and THAT IS FELT, THAT IS NOTICED, THAT AFFECTS HOME EQUITY LINES FOR SPENDING BIG SUMS.. only property price declines will affect the consumer.. perhaps 20-25 times as much money is pulled from homequity versus stock margin
