The point can be applied to many situations. You got the essential "moral" to the story. The lion had forgotten what he essentially was. It was obvious to the other creatures but he didn't get it. He had bought into the agenda of the circus so far and for so long. He still claimed owner ship of the thrown but had lost his "majesty."

My point in posting it here is that sometimes buying into a political agenda too far or for too long (left or right) can lead one to disregard the essential meaning of the human condition.
