You're link to this radiotherapy trial was published August 2000. The ASCO meeting was in July of the same year (one month prior). You can't "misstate" what is the current standard of care for the industry (in fact, the August study would be considered experimental as of the July publishing date).

Since you are a doctor, please explain to the good people here how a clinical trial protocol is developed and under what rules and objectives are the controls of the study.

Also, is experimental theory (i.e. a new radiotherapy clinical trial protocol) allowed to be used as one of the controls of the study?
