OT first paragraph, back on topic with links below: Terry + dabum, In a perfect world we could combine most of the Oil+NG discussion to a single thread but that thread would be an easy target for disruption, similar to what has occurred here in the past. Maybe by scattering the discussion on 4 or 5 threads, more folks can feel comfortable contributing. By choosing a thread (or not reading another thread-- where one might avoid a poster, or many posters, who's views or commentary one would rather not bother with--instead of using ignore and creating many holes in the discussion pattern) maybe, just maybe, we can avoid many of the pitfalls of the past. Anyone who has read the spinoff SD II thread will notice how they have created a forum consistent with the goals of those posters and they have left behind the silly stuff that, IMO, was plaguing this thread. Sure, it's less convenient to have to read multiple threads but if we go forward from here, like we've seen over the past week, I for one will be thrilled. The quality of posts have increased on all of the threads, as far as I can tell. Pretty cool post yourself, 'Bum.... The power of collective wisdom engaged towards a common cause is incredible. I am posting here for old time's sake as well. I would suggest, however, that we continue to post over at the 'Boom Room and Plastics. To date, I have tried to stay out of the 'Civil War'. (as much as a coward can) I make the following historical political observation(s): 1) A significant group of posters got disgusted with the he said/she said bravado and sniping. They also were disgusted with specific personalities who seemed to attract and create hard feelings. Thus, they created Plastics and the Boom Boom Room so the posts would stay focused on helping each other, not on ego gratification. 2) Specific people deemed trouble makers were excluded. Hard feelings ensued. 3) Individuals drifted back from time to time to lead unwary individuals who thought 'Strictly Drilling' was still about oil to the 'Boom Room. 4) Others came back to taunt and annoy those not welcomed to the new room. Hard feelings ensued. 5) Those individuals decided that they would create a room to exclude those they felt were trouble makers. (and likely to say..'Yeah? Well I'm taking my ball and going home TOO. So THERE!)..in keeping with the juvenile nature of some of the taunting and squabbling 6) OK, so we can have the old thread back, now. But the hard feelings remain, and if we return to SD, then those that felt they were disrupted by taunting can and will come back to do the same thing as an act of revenge. 7) So, the status quo is win/win...'they' have there secure place, and 'we' have ours. 8) I suggest all we do besides a few "for old times' sakes" posts is to occasionally post a signpost for the person looking for a drilling thread to go to the 'Boom Boom Room' My .02 worth.....
