I'm not moralizing about the stupidity of people participating in the lottery (though it IS indisputably stupid). I am railing about the fact that it is a government run program and a monopoly at that. And since you are involved in a government program, that makes your stupidly is my business, which annoys me. I purchase tickets in the CALIFORNIA LOTTERY which has nothing to do with Minnesota or Powerball. The stupidity seems to be yours for getting all worked up about something that does not affect you and you cannot affect. CA started their own lottery to try and keep some of the gambling dollars in CA instead of being drained into NV casino's. If you have this need to rant and reform everything and everyone you disagree with, maybe you might try to get elected to political office and mold the country to your personal preferences. A few bucks a month in the lottery does not make me or millions of other people stupid because you can't have a private lottery. The people that have problems handling the lure of state run lotteries are the same people that can't handle the lure of Mafia run numbers games and gambling. At least the state gets something back from a lottery; they get nothing from Mafia "games" and NV casino's. Life's too short to get all riled up over something out of your control. Preaching sermons to the relatively few souls who read this thread on SI is a pretty small pulpit. If you want to do something useful, come up with a way to cut out some of the 30%+ waste in federal spending. Antagonize your Congressman and Senators that have the means to do something about it.
