Yes I'd agree that keeping the supply of doctors down is a subsidiary goal. But the arrogance of self esteem is the true cement against change. Basically the worst of conservation of tradition for the sake of we know best and we are Gods.

But keeping the supply down is not possible with the fact of the draw of America for the best and brightest of all other countries. The docs can secretly try to change immigration policy but cannot do so publicly and smart folks with desire can find a loophole in any regulation.

Your chat about MDs is hilarious.

Don't like MDs cuz there aren't enough of them?
Don't like MDs cuz all they want to do is teach, i.e. create, more MDs. Huh?

For guys who are usually fond of touting simple supply and demand to explain market phenomena, you sound a bit more like AS on the issue of energy. But if you are truly wondering why there might not seem to be as many doctors now as in the past, you need only look at what has happened in health care the past ten years. Doctors are getting paid way less and working way more that they were then. What's so hot about that? Think I'll go into biotech instead.
