I think the discounters are going to get reamed further, but their services are really excellent, so I think the thing to do is wait and wait and wait and buy them for pennies if/when (as I expect) the bear grinds or plunges on down and all their business dries up. I notice options on Schwab run out as far as 2004, so at some point it might be possible to buy Schwab calls as far ahead as 2006, which might be the other side of the bear market.

But this is getting pretty far ahead.

Meantime, I am increasingly committed to a bearish position on the dollar. I mean in a BIG way. But all cash--no margin, no futures. I can lose but I can't be decimated.
