<<One of the main complaints I have heard in the 5 states I have been in that have lotteries, is that the jackpots are too high>>

You have that right. This $300mm has people cashing in their life savings. Think of how many people will miss meals or not be able to pay their rent because of the huge jackpot.

And what about the winner? The average Vern that might win would have no idea of what to do with $300mm. New cars, big house, quit work, ok, he's spent $10mm. If he was to try to float in the realm of the other $290mm the people in that bracket wouldn't want to socialize with him. Way out of his milieu.

It cracks me up when I think of how recently the State considered playing the numbers to be a vice, now they run the rackets themselves.

And Dave is right, we don't really have legalized gambling. If a bartender wants to have a weekly numbers drawing with his customers he'd be arrested if the law found out.
