I think Poyner overlooks that fact that the
2 gig switch costs less to make than the 1 gig.

However, he is correct to say that Qlogic has
JNI in their sight. First Qlogic took the
sbus business from SUN and now Qlogic is
attempting to take away JNI's channel business.

Right now everyone is cutting costs to meet EPS
and all the OEMs are looking to their suppliers
to help out. I think they will find real
"comfort level" with switches that are twice as
fast for a lot less.

After the previous webcast, Qlogic was criticsed
for not aggressive enough that they don't use
their low cost advantage. I agreed with that.
But now after the current webcast, they are
criticsed for being too aggressive. I just wish
these people can make up their mind.

tmaster,
A network is only as good as the number of nodes on it. N to the n-1. Now I know what the wives are up to. I thought it was just gossip, but its really this n to the n-1 stuff. The good old boy networks were not open to many of us, I never made the grade for that kind of network. This current network is different as it is open to all. I know there are many lurkers, many who have some connections in the biz, many who read a lot, many who have good questions and a few like szabel, who has almost been a perfect buy signal. Next time I read one of his posts I am going to put in a buy 10 seconds later(VBG).

Just a plea for more contributions to the thread.

Technocrat are you still wired, have you been well since Dec 6, do you still have a high vantage point? Can you spare a few crumbs from your info table? Thanks in advance...can you tell us about the Spiders? Many would be interested in thoughts on IT budgets and the opinion of SANs in the fortune 500.

$25.91 and sinking. Will it meet up with $17.50? A collision course of Mr Low and MR Lowest
