Professional aid workers of all sorts understand that if conviction interferes with mission, conviction must yield. If you know that "sharing the love of Christ" through active evangelization will compromise your ability to do the work you came to do, you have to decide what you are really there to do: help people or mouth off. It pays to remember that when missionaries preach, they are not helping anything but their own egos. Most Afghans already have a religion; they find it quite adequate and they do not need another one.

As I said before, I think it is absolutely insane to allow evangelical Christian organizations to be involved in a relief effort in a country like Afghanistan. It invites trouble that could derail the entire effort. If they want to help, they should send money and resources. I would feel the same way about sending devoutly Muslim aid workers to a wildly anti-Muslim countries, or openly gay aid workers to countries where homosexuality is totally unacceptable. It's not a question of approving the policies of those countries, it's a question of getting a job done. Relief aid should not be seen as an opportunity to wave flags.

Effective relief and aid programs, in my fairly extensive observations, are generally run by professionals that focus on the problem at hand. The people that need help don't need to hear why you are helping them. They need food, shelter, medical care, not religion or ideology.

Finally "The blood of the martyrs are the seeds of the Church" In many respects killing Christians is just like throwing water on a grease fire.....

I just think it's the height of hypocrisy for you to attack the Taleban for blowing up rocks, while applauding them for killing Christians

You should stop singing those old hymnal tunes, of
---->Onward Christian Martyrs <G>

....humility
truth and "love" come in many forms . Persecutions
of artists , philosophers, thinkers and mystics
have taken place down throughout the ages .

Many of the finest contributions towards human progress , and increased awareness have come from the great sacrifices of those you call---> pagans, non-believers,
and rennaissance humanists.

So please try to contain the " christian propaganda " ,
greg. I saw nowhere Steven was applauding
the killing of christians .

On an uplifting note you might like this link
