Your thinking is about right.Fotr the last few weeks I felt that this market was looking for a reason to rally. With so many CEO's mouthing the familiar "no visibility " statement there was no reason to rally. Investor confidence may return not because things are so much better, but because they are unlikely to get poorer. So the three things that can happen to a stock...downtrend,...flat...and uptrend. the most bothersome (downtrend) has been neutralized.

You may have noticed that recent Nasdaq rallies have been getting shorter and shorter. If the CSCO rally holds for two or three days that be be a significant departure from previous trends.

Good Luck...Jerome

You posted, "we need something to break the bear's back! "

Don't discount Christmas. As we have continued moving forward in time, the Christmas effect must start soon, and to a greater effect than the tax refund. In my house typical Christmas spending could be 7 to 10 time any tax refund I'll get. We are a family of five, with my siblings numbering 6, they have several children of their own.

During one family "get-together" a few years ago, over 300 family members picnicked in the Napa Valley, home and birthplace to many. Me too.

Do not care if the cat is alive or dead as long as it bounces away from the 1650 to where it was heading. The cisco news may be the end of the test of the april lows and that right now would be good enough for me. As Jesses Jackson once said "Keep the cat alive!"
