CHKP, leadership in PVN and firewall software We are adding Check Point Software Technologies (CHKP @$33.26) to our recommended list. CHKP commands 62% of the virtual private network (VPN) software market and 41% of the firewall software market, according to Gartner Dataquest. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 70% to $287.1 million. Net income totaled $170.5 million, up from $78.6 million. CHKP has had a consecutive four quarters of positive earnings surprises. We estimate CHKP will earn $1.29 per share this year on $630 million in revenue, and $1.69 per share next year.
