Look at how gold vs. other equities reversed polarity in early June. Prior to that, they moved in the same direction. Looks like they are inversely related now.

08:32 ET Economic Data : Durable Orders fell 0.6% in July, right in line with expectations. The ex-defense and ex-transportation numbers were a bit worse at -1.0% and -1.4%, and June was revised lower to -2.6% from -1.7%. Though close to expected, this number indicates that the capital spending recession specifically and the broad manufacturing recession continue; seeing little market reaction.
