Doug, I hope that AMD has a number of CPUs in parallel development tracks, but separated by some timer priod so that three years will not be the interval from ambush to reply. One hopes they do have some better stuff closer than three years away. I also think recent design automation has made that time period somewhat smaller, although I am sure it is still a complex task with few options to reduce the layout times and prototype times by very much since tools must be made for all stages of prototype production.(unless there are elegant ways to write to mask by laser/ion beam that are OK on small volume prototype runs but too slow for volume?? Bill
