Sounds like the smart daytrader will move assets to a daytrading firm such as MB Trading or the like. If I'm reading this right they are exempt. I use MBT. Sounds like the web-based trading accounts will be affected most..

$25,000 is pretty extreme IMO, especially in going from a measly $2,000 all the way up to that relatively high figure. A $10,000 requirement would have pretty much achieved the same objective, while making it less burdensome for sincere folks with less assets to enter the business of daytrading.
