10:23 ET Affymetrix (AFFX) 23.05 +0.68 (+3%): Biotech/genomics stocks running for the third consecutive day. Absent from the advance have been the life sciences tools stocks. While short-term fundamentals have deteriorated, extension of the genomics sector move could bring traders back to this heavily-shorted space. For a second day, AFFX is having trouble breaking through $23.05. Ability to clear resistance here would eliminate the short-term hurdle that has thus far prevented stock from participating in the sector rally.
