dell model is not that good. The only way why dell model works is because intel is always ready to help its pet. In reality the short inventories, which is big part of dell model, would turn away commercial sector from dell. Intel compensate for that.
The point is that dell is an expensive pet and I doubt that intel would take another one

eco, From what I see the people who tried to emulate Dell so far also tried to make it better, like the Socialist governments they think their version of a free market is better, so they fiddle.
Dell at it's simplest is direct only, no form of distribution sales, but some meet comp situations with larger clients. No stores or other dell owned local reps. Make deals with others for support etc and charge a fee where experience says yes. offer all possible dowwnloads to the client free. full data, tech etc to make the web site handle as many situations as possible to minimize human intervention.

As far as I can see all the others fail to do it properly.
Of course it helps to have a cheap warehouse and low cost labor. Deals with Intel have helped Dell?
