My son can "adduce" with the best of them!

Re "more dangerous situation"....
Well let's see....We need a 21st century Maginot Line because of the spread of nukes to "rogue nations" and all these nukes in Russia which could be "accidently" launched.

When did all this nuke stuff really take off? Granted it did exist prior but those "glorious" Reagan days boomed it so that today we have to even worry about all those Soviet nuke scientists that were educated in the 80s who do not have jobs. Great...let's kick start it again. The bloated military/industrial welfare complex needs it.

The Soviet Union did not collapse because of Reagan. A corrupt system that oppresses its' people as the Soviet system did, will always fail and to think that in the 80s it had the ability or even the support of its' people to take over anything is ludicrous. Carter knew that in the 70s and showed that with his stand on Afghanistan and the Soviet military showed its' glaring problems. Btw, Carter was a Democrat although I might not call him a "pundit".

Reagan and his supporters were among the few people who thought it possible that the Soviet Union would collapse.

Thought it was possible? They were briefed that it was in progress.
