Regarding nominees, I think the recess appointment, used occasionally by Clinton, will now become commonplace for many administrations to come. It's not a bad deal: The nominee serves for a year, then might or might not go home. Would that all members of Congress and all judges were in the same situation.

It would also make nominations more of an issue in elections. Am I the only one who gets awful tired of hearing that "Ole Charlie" keeps getting elected to his Senate seat because they like him "personally" back home? Give me a liberal who can be attacked or a conservative who can be praised (vice versa for a few of you), but I just don't TRUST "Ole Charlie", because he doesn't have a real job...
