I have posted a lot on this. The CLECs (or DLECS in the case of COVD) are still using the copper cable plants of the ILECs. And the ILECs are going to be resistant to making the next step that obsoletes both their DSL purchases and their copper cable plant before they have gotten their return on investment. The DLECs are at the mercy of the ILECs who are doing everything they can to avoid advancement of the technological solutions. Additionally, the ILECs really don't like the DLECs and they will do everything they can to make their business life difficult. The ILECs were forced to allow the DLECs/CLECs to colo their equipment at their (the ILECs) facilities. I just don't see how they can make the business model work. They have everything going against them and nothing going for them. Unless they have a change in their business model that I don't know about.
