CB, 15 billion minutes x 50c per minute = $7 billion per year revenue. The capital cost of Globalstar was $5 billion [including all the gateways]. Operating costs are low compared with those figures.

You can't understand that they would make money at that price?

I don't think you want to understand so, I'm not going to bother explaining the rest to you.

How big is the market for high quality [there is a qualitative difference between Globalstar and all others], convenient, zero latency satphone service at 20c or 50c a minute? It hasn't been tested so you don't know.

You made a superficial analysis and missed the key point [that they didn't change their strategy].

Suit yourself,

Mqurice

CB, <the reason G* is failing is because there simply isn't a big enough market for mobile GEO sat phones to make the business profitable - not the first go-round. >

I just realized you are going on about geo services. I take it you understand there is a latency difference, path diversity and quality difference... oh, what the heck...

yes, yes, too many geological phones...those geological phones will work well in mobile applications with fast fade.

<Most globe-trotters can use their cell phones where ever they go.>

Not true, but suit yourself.

<"In many of the countries they cover, anything is better than a forked stick with a message in it.">

They still want the best quality they can afford, but suit yourself, they are just bushbunnies and should be grateful for any junk thrown at them...
