Let's say, for clarity, that the moderator and the panelist are in a momentary tete a tete exchange, though with many other panelists waiting in the wings; and of course there are the usual silent viewers. In that case would your Probably change to a No or a Yes?

I've never seen, btw, any moderator let statements of that sort stand! The closest they come to that is saying something like, "Well, Bill, what do you think about Blondie's saying that Condit kept mentioning his dislike of the truth? Do you think Condit did that?" (With a hearty laugh, one echoed by the rest of the panel on both sides, because it is so obvious that Blondie tried to get away with something dishonest to make Condit look bad....)

The moderators like to show they are in charge.
