>>"Bush has shown good judgment thus far. I'm content to wait to see how he lays out his priorities...."<<

"Good judgement"??.... The so called Leader? of the Free World goes to a local school to meet with some pre-teens and answer questions about his vacation, his day and current life. Then what does he do in this venue? He tells these kids and the world that he is going to break the ABM Treaty with Russia. Good judgement???

Just a little while ago the "evil empire" did things like that....break treaties and we thought that was evil and wrong. I can just see what would happen if the evil empire had said they wanted out of this treaty. The right-wing would have called for mobilization of the reserves and pre-emptive strikes and started training those kids on how to survive a Nuke attack. Why do we want out of this treaty? We want to build a 21st century Maginot Line to feed the bloated military/industrial welfare complex and then worse yet, put weapons in space and really kick start the insanity. We are spending $1 Bn each and every day to feed the bloated military/industrial welfare complex (90% of our spending at the height of the Cold War) and more than the combined spending of the next 9 in the world list. We are obviously underfunded.

And you say this idiot shows good judgement while he is on the verge of sucking up the Social Security Trust Fund he promised to not touch to use for his world threatening military spending escalation.

He will probably go to the Little League World Series and announce that we want out of the UN because they want to stop us from using land mines and from being the largest arms dealer, small and large, in the world.

Shame!

Impeach the idiot!

But the defense overhaul needs to be near the top of the list in terms of priorities. As for SDI, we should spend enough to move things along but the full monty may have to wait until better economic times.

However, Bush has set a budget and there will be a supplemental. Given his "promise" to not tap the accounting trick on the SS Trust fund, that should mean that he'll adjust his budget downward in other areas. If he doesn't and Congress keeps his budget and accepts the supplementals, then Bush will play the rhetoric game of an out of control Congress [spending the money he asks for].

Quite a good game, isn't it?
