But, it's no weakness that we are the greatest country on earth. > It depends on how you measure 'greatest' JG. Financially, economically, politically, legally and militarily, from a state sector point of view, that, for now, is true and that is why I have given USS Enterprise, via QUALCOMM, my risk capital. But being the greatest leads to temptation, resting on laurels, laziness etc. The British were the greatest, but started to think the world owed them a living and ended up with the "British Disease". As what's-his-name says, only the paranoid survive. As you say, it is no weakness being the greatest. The problem is to maintain the winning attitude and values which support the winning. Let's hope it happens. I wouldn't mind if others improved to match the USA, but I would not like the USA to decline to other's lower standards. But there are other ways of measuring 'greatest country on earth'. For example, total kilograms of IQ in a single country would be won by India or China. Total kilograms of IQ over 160 would be won by China or India. [For those who read literally, I am joking that we measure IQ in kilograms, but those with more than 1 kg of IQ will 'get it']. Lowest murder rate would be won somewhere else. Fewest imprisoned people per capita would be won somewhere else. Most Prozac per capita would be won by USA. Of course, the America's Cup is held somewhere else [I can't mention where because some Americans will go nuts and send the navy to repossess it if they find out where it is]. There are many ways to measure humans. The USA isn't winning in all or even most divisions. But it's a good bet, for now, financially, technologically, politically, militarily and legally. I believe it's gaining ground. Though China is gaining ground very quickly economically. Incidentally, CDMA is selling like hot cakes in New Zealand. Telecom has struck a winner [even though their pricing is the same, more or less, as Vodafone]. I think the same will apply in China. I suppose we'll get numbers soon. 2002 should be a lot of fun for Q! So should the rest of 2001. Mq <Silly man. Using a rabbit's foot to get tech stocks going? Get with it. You don't misuse the power of a rabbits foot on just anything. I feel like I'm talking to a bunch of amateurs. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone home? > LOL!! Maybe it's time for me to bail from the USA... the omens are looking crazy...see last few posts...Powerball, superstitious incantations, rabbits' feet. In NZ we don't go in for all that nonsense and mumbo jumbo. We stick with tried and true 4 leaf clovers.
