Bob ..

just a thought ...

wingate proved devious to me also, as it seems to be doing to you ....
I had to go in and uninstall it ...
and
then, still had to go hunting for a few remaining bits and pieces of it that uninstall did NOT get ...

That was several HDs ago ... so I don't have anything remaining of wingate ... thank heavens ... it is an excellent program but, boy is it hard to get to go away.....

I'll think *(guessing only) from listening to what you and thecow are discussing ...
wingate *might be* what is keeping you from logging onto bigcharts ....
I can tell you that the deletion from the startup file will not make ANYTHING disappear..... except from the startup.

do you need/use wingate now?

Probably not much but here goes. Clear your internet cache. Empty everything in your temp folder (c:\windows\temp). If you have upgraded to 5.5 try running the IE repair tool. Go to start button, type msinfo32, hit ok, go to tools, internet explorer repair tool. For what it's worth, I have never been able to run 5.5 for any length of time before I started having troubles and reverted to 5.01 SP2. No one else on the thread seemed to have a problem with 5.5 so maybe I wasn't holding my tongue just right. A couple of folks are running IE 6 and aren't having any problems. Have you tried accessing bigcharts with another browser? Maybe give Opera a try? If another browser works then one of your IE settings is probably at fault. Make sure you allow per-session cookies. I believe Bigcharts will not load without this setting enabled.

Go here to test your browser: browsertune.com

Final solution: Find another chart source! (just kidding :-)
