You can't take a shortcut on this. You have to do the whole exercise. You take two matrices, one for each set of values. Start with the terminal values and list them down the left side of the page and across the top of the page. For each cell in the matrix, you choose whether the value on the left is more important than the value on the top. You have to choose. It's hard. Then you add up the scores and end up with your hierarchy of terminal values.

Then do the same thing for the instrumental values.

No cheating.

I haven't done it yet today. Wisdom has always come out on top for me. Happiness near the bottom, but above salvation.

In looking over this list, I think I'm pretty high on most of those things except rationality. It's not terribly important to me. A
fatal flaw, I know. Bill (a/k/a The Saint) gets frustrated at times.
