Intel expected to cut prices on processors

Intel Corp. is expected to slash prices further on computer processors Monday as the semiconductor giant releases its fastest chip to date – a Pentium 4 running at a speed of 2 gigahertz. Analysts expect Intel to reduce prices on older Pentiums by as much as 54 percent while pricing the new chip in the mid-$500 range. That's roughly half of what was charged for a top-of-the-line chip at introduction last year.
