Greenspan made his famous "irrational exuberance" speech in December 1996, not 1989. At the time the S&P 500 was trading in the mid-700s, the Dow around 6500, and the Nasdaq around 1300.

That certain was interesting. Having read another reply placing the date of Greenspeak at 1996, it still represents a serious increase in todays relative value to that of 1996.
