Where did you find this; "p/e of s&p500 is 24 based on earnings reported by companies, however it is 37 based on gaap"

Only problem with that is that earnings are closer to trough than a top (i think) - i mean, in a year, if stock prices stay the same and earnings pick up (which they may...or may not due), that "24 p/e" may look cheap, no?
