That's the spirit. I had a piece of birthday cake for breakfast with my daughter yesterday. Dessert and coffee first thing in the morning is a beautifully decadent act. I love it. I shouldn't be starting my daughter on it, but, o well.

what she called a 'backwards dinner" in which dessert was eaten first.

That's not such a silly idea. I rarely eat dessert, but when I do, I eat it first. If I eat it last, the sugar or something gives me cravings for "meat and potatoes" and I end up overeating. So if there's something I really want for dessert, I always order it first. Drives waiters nuts.
