Gee guys where do you teach ?

Flexable courses-we got em. If a student has outside activities that make it possible to get credit-he gets it.

If a student finishes early-(In my classes at least ) He is done, he or she can then move up a grade and start the next level ,or use the time as they see fit.If a student wants to drop last class to go to work and is ahead or puts in an hour at lunch he can leave.being flexable and adaptable goes on in many other courses throughout the school as well.

Before you all point to the private school system or home schooling as being the solution for everything and point to the failing of the public school system in comparison remember this . The public system has to work with whoever it has delivered as a student. Your local heroin user is not going to home school his kids- a large amount of well educated people will.

I have worked with some real idiots in my time and some truely brilliant people who work below their level to provide a great education to students. My situation at present may be unique. A majority of my collegues are great teachers-but I must admit that one of the schools I worked in the past contained some of the most incompedent people who walked the face of the planet.

But I am underpaid. And I will stand up and say so everytime someone wants to stomp on the field of "education" I just came off the water after a 3 day trip with a bunch of kids. One of the guys on the trip makes 70 grand a year as a ferry worker. This is a government job, all training was paid for, some of the guys he works with have 4 year degrees that they paid for to get licenses in various jurisdictions around the world. No graveyard shift for this guy, six weeks of holidays per year as well. He is pulling 20 grand a year more per year as me.He and the three other guys that bought me a beer on the way home said the same thing. None of them would consider doing the job I do for what I am paid.

Wisdom and knowledge are as far apart as teaching and education.I doubt many of the people you talk to each day could or would know the difference.

Learning does not start at 9 and end at 3.Many of you would be surprised to know how many kids pack themselves off to school each morning with 20 bucks in their pocket (To spend as they please )because thats as far as the parents go towards the kids education.

If you think education is so bad look at religion. Ever wonder what the libraries of Alexandria held ? What gifts and knowledge of the ages we could gleam from them ? And of course there was the inquisition and countless other little episodes. It goes on today in Isreal and with the Taliban. No doubt it is happening as I write this. Some nice religous group is collecting money for the soul perpose of killing others for their "JUST" cause. and two doors down the street from you as well.

And if you think education is so bad look at justice. The legal system in this country is no longer about right and wrong but about the law. The next time some guy breaks into your house and trips on the stairs you will find out how well the legal system in this country can work. If the guy tripped while you where chasing him you are in for alot of fun and can expect to burn through most of the cash you have spent the last few years to earn.If a nice lawyer manages to convince one of the companies to you have critisized on the internetto hit you with a Slap suite you can write off everything you own. Being correct will have little to do with what it will do to your life by the way.Sure there are some hard working people in the system but there is alot of idiots as well.

And of course we have polititions...... Brian Mullrooooooonie should say it all.It is interesting how the odd one stands up every once in a while and calls it quits. What they have to say is quite consistent.

So before you stomp all over the edumuckation system. Take a long look at the rest of the public institutions. My school is doing pretty darn good with what it has and the teaching staff is far from the weakest link in the system.

All this from a guy who most would say the education system failed and did so miserably. But the teachers did the best they could at the time and I have never resented that.

The teachers in the school that I presently work at continue to do the best they can despite the "Education System".

You want to kick ass , fair enough. Then go out and fix whats wrong. If you think the system failed you and home schooling is better . Sue your parents for not keeping you at home and making you a better person.

If you think home schooling is better .Pull your kids out of school and start teaching them yourself and do it no later than tomorrow. While you are at it take in the kid from down the street as well. And do not cherry pick . Bring in the one with the chain through her privates and smokes crack before nine every day.

And thats enough from my side of the tracks
