CompuAdd vs Gateway similar retail store burden. For those who remember CompuAdd from the early 90's, (actually beat Dell in 1990 in Revenue if my memory serves me correctly), CompuAdd went under, out of business, fell by the wayside, and one of the reasons was the fixed retail overhead associated with Retail stores. Dell does not/. There were I am sure other reasons for CompuAdd's demise, but clearly remember the stores were a major problem.
