Expect the government to grind to a halt soon and for Bush to try blaming it on big-spending congress. After Bush put our surplus into big energy's pockets and gave them a big tax break to boot to go in and screw over our environment.
This should unify democrats and independents as never before. Many Republicans running for re-election will be very wary to be tied to Bush. All his policies are unpopular outside the oil patch and a few other right-wing states. Congress will be largely replaced in 2002. Democrats will gain control as many of those who kind of like Bush personally don't trust his policies.

Bush-Cheney will be the last of the Reagan style tax-cut for the rich administrations. Reagan came in after an unsuccessful Democratic president when people really wanted a change. He could also shoot his guns at the Soviet Union and invade Granada. Bush is succeeding a very successful Democratic president and we have no real enemies to fight. People will know this time and many will also remember how Reagan left us in debt and recession. Bush will have an even harder time because he has no more Cold War to win. He knows this and that is why he already running for President, against his own policies as well their critics. Every photo op of Bush's is an attempt to cover up one of his unpopular policies. At least Reagan could use the Cold War as an excuse to build boondoggles and over-spend.
Against the Soviets he could play the macho cowboy. Bush plays macho versus our own allies and they only disrespect him for it. They know he's lightweight and they know he'll be gone in 3 years so just wait him out.

Bush may not even last three years. The crimes have already been committed. The evidence is being gathered. Next year it's revenge for Whitewater with REAL cirmes against Americans this time not some purely poltical bedroom witch hunt. If evidence surfaces directly linking Bush and/or Cheney to the energy manipulations and gougings they're finished. And I believe that evidence exists, or at least can be pieced together. I also believe that under subpoena and threat of perjury some people who know will talk. They're not all Ollie Norths who withhold the truth and boldly lie then end up right-wing radio hosts lecturing us about personal morality. But make no mistake, the cover up has begun and these culprits aren't stupid. They'll have to be dragged out kicking and screaming. It's going to get ugly in DC for the next 2-3 years. Very ugly. Support Bush-Cheney at the risk of your own integrity. They and their cronies are guilty of fleecing America.

I get a kick out of the fact that the right-wingers on this thread who pay income tax at a 28 percent individual rate still defend mega-corporations like GE, which paid less than 9 percent last year in income tax to Uncle Sam, thanks to corporate welfare.

The right-wingnuts start screaming about job creation and the like, even though GE and virtually every other mega-corporation has been downsizing to enhance shareholder value.

Bush's courting of union votes is a joke. I laughed out loud last week when I saw the photos of him shaking hands at the Colorado factory. The Republicans and GWB have absolutely nothing to offer the working man, which is why virtually every union in America endorsed the guy who got the most votes on Nov. 8.
