RE:"I am told the motherboard that Anand used, the ECS K7S5A, uses the SiS 735, which is supposed to offer a good amount of performance over the Gigabyte GA-7DX used by Tech Report (includes AMD760 Northbridge and VIA Southbridge), and the MSI MS-6341 (also AMD760) used by Tom's Hardware. Different motherboards using the same chipset can vary as much as 5%, I've found. But using a completely new chipset can explain why Anand was getting some very favorable scores for the Athlon."

And you can buy that ECS motherboard for $60 too...which says a lot about the SIS 735.
Add a 1.4 Ghz T-bird, HS and fan for a total of $175 plus shipping. Now that's hard to beat.

OTOH, most of us are waiting for the nForce board....which is going to make any P4-SDRAM or even RDRAM offerings look like a limp chicken neck. Especially on price performance.

BTW I saw someone advertising a P4 mobo with the via DDR chipset. I guess VIA wants to be sued. lol
