Chinton, I find it amazing how many people I meet who are distressed at their losses in the market, but are not open to any alternative to riding it out. If I mention the cyclical nature of the stock market, or the value of having some general perspective on the history of the stock market, or the overall valuation of the stock market, or how gold is just coming out of a very long bear market, there are few who respond with even a question of any sort. No wonder CNBC continues to be popular.

chinton,
I know what you mean. Reminds me of the old Maine fisherman who was asked why he never complained despite his hardships.

His reply:

'Cause half o'em don't care, the rest are glad o'it!

Hardened by the same cultural reality, I neither cry nor crow much, good or bad, about my own situation or that of others, and believe in accepting responsibility for our actions. In fact this is why I like the markets so, there is little to get in the way of reward, no politics company or gov't, no spin, little prejudice against your station in life, just payday or no payday.

But I do lament the lost justice and the promulgation of
corruption in all aspects of gov't, for the sake of my roots, the sacrifices of my ancestors and the republic for which they fought.

Best
