Spending = investment.
Paying down principal = saving social security.

Not true. Oftentimes the shareholders must bite the bullet, which is the way it should be. Some companies can pass on higher taxes to consumers in a competitive marketplace. However, a lot of companies can't.

Or let me try putting it this way: How many jobs did GE save by paying 9 percent in federal income taxes last year as opposed to, say, 18 percent?

The answer is zero. No jobs were saved.

So there is no altruistic reason not to close obscene corporate welfare loopholes.
